"Art of the Human Form" show, The Cotton Mill, McKinney, TX
Like a delicate tree, a gentle upward motion and a slightly larger scale, this one is off to a show beginning this week at the Cotton Mill in McKinney.
Artist Statement
I am most known for my big tech art pieces and metal sculptures based on screen iconography, being called artist to the tech design community and the Frisco Futurist Sculptor. My first love remains the human figure, futurism in the classic sense, celebrating the sense of movement in an immanent no-tech human form.
Motion conveys emotion
Dancers are more about the movement of dance than the anatomy of the dancer. Metal figures sketched in space, throwing visual cues to the eye, like a good UI design, just enough to engage the mind of the audience in complete the creation. Just the essence.
Tiny Dancers
My tiny dancer ballerina series is a minimalist snapshot, like a polaroid in a dimply lit dance venue, a quick glimpse, an impressionist's fleeting moment.
Nft registered art
Not to neglect the techy side, each art piece is registered as an NFT in blockchain.
Light
The metal caught me with the light on its surfaces and wouldn't let go. Pardon my excitement over layers with spaces and my love for twentieth century industrial "mech-deco". Its my blue collar roots and love for the rugged strength of human creative industry.
Its alive!
Each responds to every little nuance of light in the room with a glimmer and soft shadow, always with substance and form. This is why I like working in metal.
You really have to see them in real time and space and light to understand the variations that come from this metal in all these shapes. This is just light from the window across the room.
Your place
Sculpture invades your space. No need venturing into a world beyond the glass or canvas. These metal figures share your personal space.
just like in the Real World
Their appearance changes throughout the day responding to light conditions and your point of view, reflecting their surroundings and casting shadows all their own. They are your companions in real space and time.
She is the first to model this arcing upward base. I love the upward motion and light feeling it implies. Of course I do. That's why I do this stuff.
