Sculpture tells the story of the intertwine of technology and culture. From antiquity through the ages and now.
Description
This Photograph is of a 7 foot tall sculpture of an iPhone made of steel and concrete with a video monitor on the face displaying a photo of another sculpture.
Inner photo
That photo is of a 9 inch tall sculpture of a Bitcoin logo cut into brushed aluminum. It is on a base comprised of layers of steel and aluminum held tightly together with a row of five stainless steel carriage bolts. It is against a dark background and resting on a glass surface atop a green circuit board.
industrial
This has a last century heavy industrial look I call Tech Mech Deco. I sometimes call it geek deco when as in this case, it includes actual electronics & media and themes that mainly geeky people would understand and appreciate.
TechXpressionism
This large steel smartphone monolith has a more rough aesthetic to deliberately contrast against the slick polish of the video monitor and contemporary digital technology in general. I have dubbed this TechXpressionism.
physical Relief for the over-digitized
It is both a celebration of technology and an open rebellion against it. It speaks to the dichotomy of how much We love our devices, but we need a break from it. We get sick of the slick and crave physical experiences. Sculpture provides tactile relief for an over-digitized society.
The Historic backdrop
This entire sculpture stands on a galvanized steel pallet on a stained concrete floor next to an antique lamppost inside the famous historic Cotton Mill in McKinney, TX. The hundred year old large brick building now converted to tech startup offices, artist studios, and this art gallery, curated by the Visual Arts League of Allen, TX. VALA
